Dreame Robot

Which Dreame should you choose for a flat?

In a flat, the most impressive spec sheet is not the one you need. The question is not "which is the most powerful", but "what will I actually use across 50 to 80 m²".

The answer

The Dreame D30 Ultra at 399 €: 25,000 Pa of suction, a HyperStream anti-tangle brush, and a height under 10 cm that fits beneath most low furniture. In a flat, it suctions harder than an L50 Pro Ultra at 1,099 €.

What genuinely matters: not paying for space you do not have

Here is the calculation most buyers never make.

The D30 Ultra (399 €, 25,000 Pa) suctions harder than the L50 Pro Ultra (1,099 €, 19,500 Pa). This is not an anomaly: beyond a certain price, Dreame stops adding pascals and starts adding features designed for large areas — 10 cm of climbing, 4 to 5.5 L tanks, multi-floor mapping. In a flat, none of those three does anything for you:

  • 10 cm of climbing answers high obstacles — door sills, thick carpets laid across several rooms. A standard flat has thresholds a few centimetres high, not steps.
  • Large tanks (4.5 L and up) avoid a mid-cycle refill in a large house. Across 60 m², the robot finishes its cycle on the reserve of an entry-level model.
  • Multi-floor mapping is useless on a single level.

The real quality jump sits between 400 € and 750 €: that is where the anti-tangle brush appears across the range, where suction climbs to 25,000–30,000 Pa, and where stations gain automatic washing and drying. Above 750 €, you pay for convenience — climbing, tanks, advanced navigation — that the size of your home will not let you exploit.

If your home has pronounced thresholds between rooms. Dreame does not disclose the D30 Ultra's climbing height — a silence that answers the question: it is probably modest. If you have sharp thresholds between rooms (floating parquet, raised tiling), prefer the L40s Pro Ultra (549 €), which states 4 cm of climbing in black and white.

One last neglected point: the height of the robot. The D30 Ultra fits under most low furniture — sofas, beds, TV units. In a flat, that is often the only place that completely escapes manual cleaning; a robot that reaches it pays for itself on that alone.

What this table says: the D30 Ultra suctions harder than the L40s Pro Ultra for 150 € less, but its climbing is not disclosed. The L50s Pro Ultra, at 749 €, adds 5,000 Pa and an even more accomplished brush — the sensible upper limit for a flat.

Our selection

The default choice — D30 Ultra

Who for? A single-level flat with no pronounced thresholds. 25,000 Pa, anti-tangle brush, low robot: it is the highest suction-to-price ratio in the whole range.

If you have thresholds between rooms — L40s Pro Ultra

Who for? A flat with sharp thresholds between floor coverings. Its 4 cm of climbing is stated explicitly, where the D30 Ultra stays vague. 150 € more for that guarantee.

If you want the best without changing category — L50s Pro Ultra

Who for? A flat with carpets or pets, where 30,000 Pa make a real difference on fibres. Beyond this model, you enter large-house features.

Mistakes to avoid

Choosing a model over 1,000 € out of reflex. The highest price is no guarantee of effectiveness on a small area: above 750 €, you pay for features designed for homes far larger than yours.

Ignoring the height of the robot. A high suction figure does not make up for a robot too tall to fit under your furniture. In a small space, reaching under low furniture often counts for more than an extra 5,000 Pa.

Overlooking thresholds between rooms because of a missing figure. The absence of a manufacturer's figure (as on the D30 Ultra) is not a detail: measure your thresholds before buying, or take a model whose climbing is explicitly stated.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Dreame for a flat?

The D30 Ultra (399 €) in most cases: 25,000 Pa, an anti-tangle brush, and a low robot that fits under furniture. If your flat has pronounced thresholds between rooms, prefer the L40s Pro Ultra (549 €), which states 4 cm of climbing.

Do you need a 1,000 € robot for a small flat?

No. The 10 cm climbing and the large tanks of the flagship models answer large-house problems — high obstacles, running across many rooms. On a small area, you will never use them.

Does the D30 Ultra handle thresholds between rooms well?

Dreame does not disclose that figure for the D30 Ultra, which is itself an indication: it is probably modest. If your thresholds are pronounced, take the L40s Pro Ultra instead, whose 4 cm of climbing is stated in black and white.

Is a low robot an advantage in a flat?

Yes, often more than a suction figure. In a flat, the space under low furniture — sofas, beds, TV units — concentrates dust and is never cleaned by hand. A robot under 10 cm tall reaches it; a taller model goes around it.
