If your priority is mopping, and not vacuuming, the logic of choice flips completely. Suction power becomes secondary; it is the mopping system that decides everything.

The structural flaw of spinning mops

Here is what actually happens with a robot using spinning mops — that is, nearly the whole market, including the X, L and D series.

The robot leaves its station with clean, damp mops. It mops. The dirt settles onto the mop. It carries on mopping — with a mop that is now dirty. Over the last square metres of the cycle, it is no longer mopping: it is redistributing.

That is invisible on dark tiles. It is perfectly visible on light tiles, light wood, or a glossy floor.

Manufacturers have patched together workarounds: the robot returns to the station to rinse itself every so many square metres. That softens the problem without solving it — and it lengthens the cycle.

The Aqua series' answer: rinse during the pass

The AquaRoll roller is a full-width cylinder that turns, mops, and rinses itself continuously against a built-in squeegee. The dirt is carried away as it goes, in real time.

Three textures stored in the station: a degreasing one for the kitchen, a sponge for the bathroom, a conventional fibre for the rest. Three matching cleaning-solution compartments.

When it is the right choice: a large home with varied flooring and varied needs. A greasy kitchen and a wooden bedroom do not call for the same mop.

When it is pointless: a uniformly tiled studio. The swapping will never come into play, and you will have paid 899 € for a dormant feature.

The hidden criterion: washing the mop at 100 °C

A poorly understood point: the 100 °C does not wash your floor. It washes the mop, in the station, between two cycles.

It sounds like nothing, and yet it is the criterion that decides the state of your floor after a month. A mop rinsed in cold water keeps its grease and its residue; it sets off on the next cycle already dirty. At 100 °C (ThermoHub), it genuinely sets off clean.

Add hot-air drying: a mop that dries in the station does not develop the musty smell characteristic of badly designed mopping robots.

Mistakes to avoid

Choosing a mopping robot on its suction figure. If you mostly mop, the pascals will tell you nothing about mopping quality. Look at the "Mopping system" line.

Overlooking the cost of consumables. The Aqua series' roller is a specific consumable: you will not find it in the same aisle as the spinning mops of the X, L and D series. Check its availability and its price before committing.

Expecting a robot to scour. No robot applies the pressure of a human arm to a stubborn stain. The robot keeps a floor clean; it does not rescue a dirty one.
